Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts | Without explicitly stating it, these ads imply that taking Big Pharma's overpriced, dangerous medications will transform your disorganized, painful and depressed life into a life of happiness, abundance and clarity. It's the same story that's shown in virtually every ad: Somebody has a terrible life that's turned around by a magic pill, and then by the end of the ad, they're walking off into the sunset with some sexy supermodel and life is perfect!
Why won't the FTC investigate these blatant exaggerations found in direct-to-consumer drug advertisements? | | I hope the FTC someday recognizes the important role it might play in bringing down the criminal big pharma racket now masquerading as modern medicine, but until then, the agency appears as little more than yet another misguided group of government paper shufflers who have no real interest in protecting American consumers from anything that matters.
Oh, and by the way, if you really want to lose weight, stay away from so-called weight loss products made of sugar. | Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts | No reasonable person would argue otherwise (unless, of course, he was on the big pharma payroll or making money from today's pharmaceutical racket). Drug companies should no longer be allowed to operate in secret. Doctors, for one, need to have access to this information so they can make informed decisions on the safety of pharmaceuticals rather than just relying on some sexy young drug rep who buys them lunch and showers them with gifts. | | Of course, the whole point of publishing this information is to achieve open disclosure so that doctors, scientists, medical staff and the public can exercise additional oversight on the FDA and big pharma. Drug safety should not be carried on behind closed doors, in dark corridors, and through under-the-table bribery deals. The safety of pharmaceuticals should be openly disclosed and debated. The White House, it now seems, does not want the public to learn the truth about drug trial results. | | Remember this: big pharma, the White House and the FDA all want you to remain ignorant about the dangers of drugs. The truth can never be allowed to be told, because the truth of the matter is simply too shocking for most Americans to comprehend.
And what is this truth, you ask? It's simple: The pharmaceutical industry is a criminal organization engaged in crimes against humanity. This industry is far more dangerous than any terrorist group, has killed far more Americans than any war (including World War II), and now represents the single greatest threat to the safety of American citizens. | | The real reason the White House opposes this legislation, in my opinion, is that the White House is far too cozy with drug companies. big pharma maintains strong ties with the Bush Administration and helped elect virtually every Republican currently in office. In return, the Bush Administration has worked to pump up the profits of drug companies at every opportunity: His administration made it illegal for the U.S. | | This is, of course, precisely why the White House strongly opposes the idea. big pharma depends on secrecy for its success. If the truth about the widespread dangers of prescription drugs actually came out, consumers would shift to natural remedies in droves! The only thing protecting drug companies from utter financial ruin is a massive shield of deception that prevents anyone from knowing exactly how harmful these synthetic chemicals really are.
Notice that it's only after the fact that we currently learn about dangerous drugs? | Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts | They're simply operating on a system of false beliefs and circular reasoning that justifies their efforts to protect big pharma profits by exploiting, misleading and directly harming the public.
Have you ever wondered what rules and beliefs actually drive FDA decisions in that alternate reality? As a service to NewsTarget readers, I've assembled a few in this article. These are the rules that define the dogma of modern "scientific" medicine and pharmacology marketing. | Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts | The killing of the amendment was done for one simple, uncomplicated reason: to protect the safety of big pharma profits by forcing Americans to pay monopoly prices for their medicines.
Modern-day Indentured Servants
The whole price fixing scam brings to mind a relevant term from American history: Indentured servants. These indentured servants were people who agreed to work a farm or plantation for a period of 4-7 years in exchange for passage to America. | Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts | Thanks to big pharma influence, veterinary medicine today has become just as much of a joke as the conventional medical system used to treat humans. The goal is no longer to actually heal anyone, but rather to maximize profits by treating and managing diseases without curing or preventing them. Many vets have figured this out, too: If they treat the animals with pharmaceuticals instead of actually curing them of disease (or preventing disease), they benefit from lucrative repeat business! | Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts | REPPED: Do you find yourself frustrated with the lack of progress in the fight for consumer rights against big pharma and the FDA? Take comfort, my friends, in knowing that even though we did not achieve the victory we wanted in this latest legislative effort in the United States, we did stand up and be heard. Hundreds of thousands of grassroots supporters of natural health contacted their senators and let their voices be heard. As a result, senators Hatch, Enzi and others are now on the record stating that Senate bill S.1082 will in no way restrict access to nutritional supplements. | Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts | Sometimes you have to seek them out yourself and ignore state licensing boards (which are totally owned by big pharma, by the way). I've found that licensing credentials are essentially useless, and the more credentials some vet has, the more deeply they're brainwashed into a pharmaceutical approach to veterinary medicine.
If you want a healthy pet, you've got to get back to basics: Nutrition, exercise, disease prevention and natural remedies. There is absolutely no rationale that justifies the routine chemical treatment of pets with patented, high-profit pharmaceuticals. | Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts | You probably have no idea how far big pharma will go to turn human beings into customers. Drugging the entire nation with patented chemicals is only part of the goal. The real goal is to drug everyone with multiple drugs that don't treat or cure anything, but only "manage" symptoms while keeping people alive long enough to keep them paying. Remember The Matrix? Today, the United States is inching ever closer to a Medical Matrix, where consumers are enslaved in a system of chemical control in order to turn a human being into profit machine. | | This fraudulent big pharma recipe for making money is so effective that the industry is now increasingly focusing on marketing diseases. If a so-called "disease" can be swallowed by the gullible mainstream media, and believed by brainwashed doctors and consumers, then drug sales will automatically follow.
Getting people to believe there's something wrong with them, of course, is amazingly easy. Why? Because everybody's life is in turmoil at one time or another. There's not a person alive who doesn't feel pressure, or anxiety, or challenges, or failures sooner or later. | | The FDA, always happy to serve the profit interests of big pharma, went right along with the ploy and legalized television and magazine drug ads in 1997. Since then, drug sales have skyrocketed, drug company profits have ballooned, and fictitious disease diagnoses have proliferated at an alarming rate.
Diseases such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorder are completely fictitious, invented by a panel of psychiatrists with a simple vote. | Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts | The real problem, then, is not necessarily dishonest Senators who would sell out their countrymen (and women) for a few dollars from big pharma. The real problem is that corporations are allowed to financially influence lawmakers in the first place! The problem is the lobbying and campaign finance structure that allows virtually all lawmakers from both sides of the aisle to be so easily and cheaply bought off (or at least strongly influenced) by corporate interests. | Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts | A couple of CounterThink cartoons (by yours truly) also make the film, detailing FDA corruption, Big Pharma's junk science and the grand hoax of modern psychiatry.
(See my most recent CounterThink cartoon, just released today: Fidozac, the antidepressant drug for dogs!)
Only occasionally does the film retreat from its pressure-cooker drama. Chapter Three offers a series of personal testimonies on Prozac that goes on way too long, for example, but the timing of the film is likely to be tightened up before its final release. | Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts | For a few hundred thousand dollars -- the profits from only a couple hundred prescription drug users -- these Senators appear to have been either strongly influenced or outright bribed to kill a measure that would have saved Americans tens of billions of dollars and finally freed the American people from the financial stranglehold of big pharma.
These Senators, of course, all insist they were voting to protect the "safety" of Americans, claiming that medicines imported from other countries are dangerous. | | If you live in America and need medicine, the FDA and big pharma are doing everything in their power to make sure you have no choice but to buy it from "the company store" -- the monopoly-controlled U.S. pharmaceutical market that's basically in the business of ripping people off by selling them dangerous synthetic chemicals.
Need to control your blood sugar? That's a few thousand dollars a year. Have high cholesterol? Another few thousand. Got cancer? | | They voted, on the record, to propel a profiteering price scheme operated by a criminal conspiracy masterminded by the FDA and big pharma. | Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts | REPPED: big pharma has successfully completed its takeover of veterinary medicine in the United States and other first-world nations. Knowing that massive profits could be generated through the bodies of pets, drug companies have spent two decades pursuing an aggressive campaign of rewriting vet school curricula, influencing veterinarians and brainwashing pet owners into thinking their dogs, cats and horses need drugs in order to be healthy. | Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts | It might as well be renamed to, "The big pharma Administration." Because that's where much of the money comes from, and that's where the interests of the top decision makers seem to be focused.
In case anybody out there is interested in REAL reform that would rein in the drug companies and protect consumers, here are the top five things that need to be done:
(Click the cartoon for the full-sized version. | Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts | Both the Nazi party and big pharma have killed millions of innocent people. The Nazis did it for political power, big pharma does it for financial power. Neither is morally justified.
Whether we're talking about Merck, or Nazi Germany, or the FDA or even the Bush Administration, it's usually only a few people at the top of these organizations that deserve to be labeled as evil. In the Nazi party example, that would of course be attributed to Hitler and his closest advisors who set the tone that allowed atrocities to occur. | Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts | By the time you finish chapter three of the film (which contains the most jaw-dropping revelations of FDA corruption and scientific fraud), you'll cry out for the criminal prosecutions of key FDA decision makers, big pharma executives and the authors of the DSM-IV, the "bible" of modern psychiatry. Fifty-six percent of the panel members who created the DSM-IV are on the take from drug companies, pocketing cash, bribes, royalty payments or other fees from the very same companies that profit from the mass marketing of "brain chemistry diseases. | Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts | But that's not what big pharma wants you to believe.
Big Pharma's big lie: If you pump enough chemicals into your body, your life will be perfect
The whole promise of the drug industry is fraudulent. The promise is that if you take all these chemicals, you'll have healthy cholesterol, normal blood pressure levels, you'll never be nervous in social situations, you won't be depressed, you'll be happy all the time, you'll be able to have a bowel movement when you need one, you'll be able to pee when you have to and you'll be able to get an erection when you want one. | Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts | It is quite clear that the FDA is already functioning as the marketing branch of big pharma, and this new Evilization Act of 2007 would deepen the financial relationships between the two.
For this reason (and many others), NewsTarget opposes this bill (S1082) and urges all Americans to oppose this bill by protesting it with your legislative representatives.
What follows it the text of the original article, with some modifications of content based on new information. (My original article was written before the truth about the Reagan-Udall Foundation was revealed. | | This is one reason why the FDA is so eager to please Big Pharma: That's who's paying (part of) the FDA salaries!
The United States is the only advanced nation in the world that allows drug companies to advertise directly to the public. It is a dubious practice that has no scientific or medical justification whatsoever. It was legalized in 1998 by the FDA and contributed directly to the Vioxx fiasco as well as the mass medication of American children with mind-altering drugs. Drug advertising should be banned outright. | | Whose idea was it anyway that the FDA is doing such a fine job with regulating the drug companies that it deserves to be paid even MORE money by big pharma? It's certainly nothing new in Washington: The worse you do the job, the more money you get.
But the idea is ludicrous. Why should the FDA be even more financially beholden to drug companies than it is already? Shouldn't we be trying to extricate the FDA from drug company influence and let the agency stand on its own, funded with public money, and operating on some sort of sworn oath to protect the consumer? | | The truth is, the FDA treats big pharma with kid gloves. It even "negotiates" with drug companies to decide on how, and when, and at what size safety warning labels should be printed. This is absurd, and it shows who's really in charge when it comes to drug safety (the drug companies themselves!).
Then again, all this assumes the FDA actually wants to protect the public, and I don't believe the agency wants to. I think the FDA just pretends to protect the public in order to meet the minimum regulatory requirements that prevent a real Congressional inquiry. | Mike Adams, the Health Ranger See article keywords and concepts | If such a rule were to go unchallenged, the degree of profiteering by big pharma would be unprecedented. Free to charge monopoly prices thanks to the FDA-enforced domestic drug racket that outlaws international competition, and unburdened by the financial risk of lawsuits from consumers harmed by their drugs, big pharma would be emboldened to unleash a dystopian era of unprecedented disease mongering, bribery of doctors, false advertising and the mass drugging of children, adults and seniors alike... with absolutely nothing to hold them in check. |
